How to do a Tyre puncher
Here are the steps to repair a tyre puncture using a standard tubeless tyre puncture repair
kit. This method works for most car, bike, and scooter tyres:
Steps to Repair a Tyre Puncture
1. Ensure Safety
- Park your vehicle on a flat, safe surface.
- Apply the handbrake and, if necessary, place warning triangles.
2. Locate the Puncture
- Inspect the tyre to find the puncture site.
- Remove any foreign object (like a nail) from the puncture using pliers.
3. Prepare the Puncture Hole
- Use the reaming tool provided in the kit to clean and enlarge the hole. Move it in and out
a few times to roughen up the inside of the puncture.
4. Insert Repair String/Plug
- Thread the repair strip or plug halfway through the eye of the insertion tool.
- Push the tool with the repair strip into the hole until about half an inch remains sticking
out of the tyre.
- Quickly pull the tool out, leaving the strip inside the tyre. This plugs the puncture.
5. Seal and Trim
- If using sealant, apply it as per your kit’s instructions.
- Cut off the excess repair strip flush with the tyre.
6. Inflate the Tyre
- Use a compressor or tyre pump to reinflate the tyre to the correct pressure.
7. Check for Leaks
- Apply soapy water to the repaired area and look for bubbles (which indicate leaks).
- If sealed, you can now drive a short distance to get the tyre professionally checked and
properly repaired or replaced.
